Palm Beach County Clerk & Comptroller Selects Pioneer Technology Group to Automate Value Adjustment Board Process

2007 has been another record year for petitions filed with the Value Adjustment Board (VAB). The Palm Beach County Clerk & Comptroller Sharon Bock, has decided to automate the process with Axia, Pioneer Technology Group’s VAB software. Axia is currently being used by six other counties who have also had to look to technology to keep up with the increase. The system is set to be in place for the 2008 tax year.
The current process of filing a petition with the VAB must be done via mail or in person. With the huge increase in filings Palm Beach County’s staff has been struggling to keep up. Once the installation of the new system is complete Palm Beach County Taxpayers will be able to file their petitions online and save themselves a trip to the courthouse.
Axia will provide the Palm Beach County Clerk & Comptrollers’ office with online access for taxpayers, Property Appraisers, Magistrates, and Value Adjustment Board staff. Online access will include real-time status of petitions, hearing dates and hearing decisions as well as allow for evidence submittal and retrieval. Axia’s paperless hearing module allows for automated batch scheduling, and rescheduling of hearings. Additionally, Axia will handle the assigning of Special Magistrates with the correct qualifications, the generation of hearing notices, and the review of hearings schedules and daily agendas.
