Dr. Douglas C. Schmidt leads technology strategy and solutions, community development, and external strategic partnerships at Zircon Computing. He has published nine books and over 400 technical papers covering a range of research topics, including patterns, optimization techniques and analyses of software frameworks and modeling environments that facilitate the development of distributed real-time and embedded (DRE) middleware and applications. Dr. Schmidt also served as a Deputy Office Director and Program Manager at DARPA, where he led the national R&D effort on middleware for DRE systems.
